My journey into product design and front-end development started with my background in medical laboratory science, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree. I began my career in the lab, working as a medical laboratory scientist, spending countless hours analyzing bacteria and viruses. Each day, I would don my lab coat, carefully inspect samples under the microscope, and interpret complex data all with the knowledge that each test result might help a patient receive the care they needed. I wasn’t just working with data; I was searching for answers that could bring real relief to real people.
As I progressed in my career, I began to notice something: there was a significant gap in how healthcare systems interacted with patients and providers. I often saw people struggling to navigate poorly designed systems and apps, which added stress and frustration to what was already a difficult experience. It was then that I started wondering how different things could be if these tools were designed to be intuitive and empathetic, with the needs of the user at the forefront.
Driven to deepen my expertise, I decided to pursue a master’s degree in User Experience Design. Here, I found myself drawing on my scientific background daily. Just as I once meticulously analyzed lab samples, I now conducted user research, wireframed interfaces, and crafted prototypes, always focused on understanding and solving user needs. I learned how to test and refine designs with precision, ensuring they were functional, accessible, and intuitive.
Today, I’m in product design with a singular mission: to create digital experiences that are as empathetic as they are efficient. I’ve moved from analyzing pathogens to analyzing user behaviors, from delivering lab results to delivering thoughtful, user-centered interfaces. With every project, I bring the same empathy I developed in healthcare, aiming to make technology a little easier, a little more human, and a lot more meaningful.
